Hotel Information is posted in the WPRC calendar. Please note that the U12 coaches have secured a room at the Ramada Conference Center. To be flexible with everyone’s travel plans, there will be no formal WPRC gathering evening; however, racers are encouraged to get together and prepare for the weekend’s competition while the parents should discuss morning departure timing and logistics, especially those who have never been to Tussey Mtn before.
The U12 States consist of three days of events, with the first day (Skills Quest) being optional. We do encourage our athletes to participate, not only to test and challenge the skills they've been working on, but to get a feel for the race venue. Also, the Skills Quest is scored separately with awards going to the top five boys and girls.
Based on last year, it’s likely that registration for all 3 days will take place upstairs in the main lodge at Tussey. from ; however, this is subject to change so it’s strongly recommended that you refer to your 2018 invitation packet, http://www.paracing.or
morning WPRC coaches will meet the kids at the lodge following the captain's meeting to discuss the Skills Quest schedule for the day prior to heading out onto the hill; exact time & location tbd, but please make sure your racer is booted up and ready to go on time. It is recommended that all parents check in at the lodge after registering their kids (and signing up to volunteer for at least one day). The main lodge location is convenient for spectators as well as to meet your racers between runs and have lunch. Lunch was provided to racers and in the past. However, the lines get really long, so plan ahead.
For Skills Quest, the Tussey mtn race coaches will organize the racers into groups . The racers will remain with that group throughout the day. They will be assigned 1-2 coaches to direct them to the Skills Quest stations. Please again note that this is subject to change this year and may even be adjusted up until that day due to things like weather, snow conditions, etc. As such, it’s recommended that you consult the official sources noted above for the most up-to-date information as race day approaches. It is recommended the racers use the skis they are most comfortable with. SL skis have been the ski of choice in the past.
evening the U12 coaches will be coordinating a team meeting/pizza dinner for all racers and parents in the banquet room next to the pool (time tbd), but are in need of a couple parent volunteers to pull together a headcount and collect money prior to the event in order to make it happen. Please contact Coach Jim (email@example.com) if you are willing and able to step up and help.
As for the remainder of the weekend, the morning meetup logistics and times will be discussed at the team dinner. Inspection and race times will also be posted online and in the derby invitation packets. Additionally, last year TMART hosted a banquet night following the race at the Ramada conference center. This is a great event and we encourage all to attend.
